VERTEBRATE ANIMALS

Since we started the 2nd term we have been studying lots of things about animals.

Now we know that there are two big groups of animals: vertebrates and invertebrates.

Invertebrate animals are animals that don't have any bones, like bees or spiders.

Vertebrate animals are animals with a a backbone or an internal skeleton.

There are FIVE GROUPS of vertebrates: MAMMALS, FISH, BIRDS, REPTILES and AMPHIBIANS.

Look how we learn the names of many animals in English and how we are able to classify them.

FISH

During the last week we have been the characteristic of fish in more detail:

Fish are vertebrates, they live in the water, they have scales covering their bodies, they use their fins and tail to swim, they breathe with their gills and they are oviparous (their babies come from eggs)
